broken chains
the sky fell down around me
felt like my love was gone
big bright moon has disappeared
somehow it all went wrong
i know around the corner
there's a dawn to end the night
promise of the heart's return
in direction of the light
the hardest thing for me has been
to lose the ones i love
when the ways that i want them
don't fit like any glove
it's not the separation
that causes all the grief
desire when it lingers
expectation is a thief
she looked me in the eyes and said
you've gotta let me go
i don't feel at home here
i just thought i'd let you know
just can't keep on holding
to a dream that's made of sand
the tide came back to claim it all
gonna move to higher land
gonna move to higher land
give me something stronger
to break these steely chains
running in adventure
take away the frame
that binds the heart of freedom
and possibility
i want the shoes that walk
